    Dong Shouping (1904-1997) is a famous contemporary freehand painter and calligrapher. The original name was Kui, the word harmonic Bo, and later Mu Nantian Yun Ge. Yun Shouping was renamed Shouping, from Dushu village, Hongdong County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province. He graduated from Tianjin Nankai University in his early years. He is famous for painting pine, bamboo, plum and orchid. In his later years, he was known as a giant of Huangshan. He painted landscapes with Huangshan as the theme and was also good at calligraphy. He has been a consultant of the Chinese Calligrapher Association, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a consultant of Beijing rongbaozhai, the director of the calligraphy and painting room of the CPPCC National Committee, the honorary president of the Beijing Chinese Painting Research Association, the honorary president of the Shanxi Cultural Relics Research Association, the director of the Chinese people’s Association for friendship with foreign countries, the associate of China Japan friendship, the vice president of the Beijing Association for friendship with foreign countries, and a member of the fifth and sixth CPPCC National Committee.
